Word of the Day 7/22/06
uvarovite \yoo-VAR-uh-vyt\, noun:
An emerald-green mineral; a variety of garnet.
Example: “Uvarovite is the rarest of all the garnets, and is the only consistently green garnet, with a beautiful emerald-green color.”
This is a GREAT Scrabble word, if you’re holding all vowels. Notice this word contains the vowels A, E, I, O and U. My wife wants one now…
Quote of the Day 7/22/06
- “I think computer viruses should count as life. I think it says something about human nature that the only form of life we have created so far is purely destructive. We’ve created life in our own image.”
- — Stephen Hawking
- I think this is a very true statement. Mankind, or at least a few talented hackers, have created a way to wreak havoc on the one thing we have grown dependent on in the Age of Technology. Without computers, we’d be back in the Stone Age as far as efficiency is concerned. Created destruction in our own image. Yep. Sounds about right.
